Mind Virus

Many who follow my updates in facebook, will notice recently I have gone ballistic with a new concept of the virus of the mind.

I rarely write anything in social network sites unless it has really inspired, motivated or changed my way of thinking.

This virus of the Mind thing sent me into a frenzy. I came across Virus of the mind after watching a video by one my favourite authors and public speaker Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Dr. Dyer for those who do not know him is an American psychologist who has written some of the revolutionary books such as: Your Erroneous Zones, Pulling Your Own Strings, Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life among others.

From the moment he referred to the Virus of the Mind, I knew I was into it. I did everything within my reach to get hold of the book. Audiobook rather than print copies are my favourites for many reasons, among them being easy and quick to listen to rather than reading a book.

Virus of the Mind is written by one of the great minds in this world. The author, Richard Brodie, is not your average Joe, he is the software guru who scribed the Microsoft Word that I am using to write this article. Those days are long gone, he felt that rather than sitting next to the one of the richest men in the world, Bill Gates, life has more to offer. After feeling dissatisfied with his high profile and well paying job, he quit and went into a journey of self-discovery.

He spent three years scouring personal development material that would teach him how to be contented with life. He turned into an author and a public speaker. His first book if not MS Word is Getting Past Ok.

Enough of the background of the virus of the mind. let’s get back to the real stuff- Virus of the mind.

What is Virus of the mind.
Virus of the mind is not something from another planet or something new. Virus of the mind has been with us as long we cannot remember. They are infecting us everyday. You are spreading and catching some right now. Actually, as you read this you are being infected by live virus of the mind.

Read a newspaper? Catch a mind virus.
Listen to the radio? Catch a mind virus.
Hang out with your friends and shoot the breeze about nothing in particular? Catch one mind virus after another.
Read a book or a blog like this? Catch a mind virus.
Watch TV?, Catch a mind virus.
Facebook? Catch a mind virus.
Parent or teacher teaching a kid? Catch a mind virus.

Some consequences of the virus of the mind
Do you believe that your religion is better than all other religions? your guess is as good as mine. You are infected by a mind virus.

If your life isn’t going the way you would like, you can bet mind viruses are playing a large part.

Having relationship problems? Mind viruses take over parts of your brain and divert you from what would give you long-term happiness.

Having trouble in your job or career? Mind viruses cloud your future and steer you along a career path that supports their agenda, not your quality of life.

Why do you buy a certain soft drink, I mean that popular drink that everybody even a kids like? The brand company knows how to spread the virus through advertisement.

Why did you vote for that politician despite being inefficient and corrupt? you think you like him, why do you like him? He has infected you with a mind virus.
